Hotel Gare de Lyon

Hotels close to the Gare de Lyon, an area which spans around the station itself to the banks of the Seine in the west, Bercy in the south, the Place de la Bastille in the West and the Boulevard Diderot when going to the north towards the Place de la Nation. Symbolized by its Clock Tower (210 feet high), the Gare de Lyon welcomes 83 million passengers every year (half for the national lines), and is in fact one of the largest train station in Paris.

Because the Gare de Lyon is a very busy part of the city, the number of hotels in the vicinity of the station is significant. Whether you prefer chain hotels, such as the Mercure hotel or the Novotel, both 4-star hotels, or smaller independent hotels, the hotel capacity of this area of the 12th district of Paris is quite large, and quite diverse. Rooms rates around the Gare de Lyon are in general quite affordable, as this area is not particularly touristic, and doesn't have a very busy nightlife. However, choosing a hotel close to the Gare de Lyon could be a good compromise, because of its proximity to the Bastille area, and to the POPB concert hall and sports arena, but especially because of the metro line 1 passing nearby. This line serves the whole Right Bank, allowing you to go to the Louvre, the City Hall, the Champs Elysées or even the La Defense business district, directly, straight through.
